(Agraria.pe) Between January and May of 2025, the export of alpaca fiber and its derivatives by Peru totaled US$ 88,850,000, registering an increase of 9.1% compared to the same period of 2024 (US$ 81,424,000), reported the Manufacturing Management of the Association of Exporters (ADEX). It detailed that 59% of the shipments in the first five months of this year correspond to raw material (US$ 52,494,000), registering a rise of 15.5% compared to the same period of 2024. The washed, carded, and combed fiber locks (known as tops) with US$ 49,467,000 led the ranking, followed by fiber in brosa (US$ 2,874,000) and other products (US$ 152,435). For its part, shipments with added value represented the remaining 41% (US$ 36,356,000), experiencing an increase of 1% compared to the mentioned period of the previous year (US$ 35,974,000).
