In the first half of 2024, Peru experienced a significant increase in Castile bean exports, with revenue reaching US$ 4,666,813, a 30% rise from the previous year, according to Agrodata Perú. The volume of these exports also grew by 7.8%, totaling 2,897,202 kilos. This surge in growth is primarily due to the higher average price of Peruvian Castile beans in the international market, which increased to US$ 1.61 per kilogram from January to June 2024, up from US$ 1.33 per kilogram in the same period of 2023. The United States emerged as the leading consumer of these beans, accounting for 56% of the total exports. Other significant destinations included Colombia, Greece, Panama, and Puerto Rico. The main companies responsible for these exports were Consorcio del Valle, S&M Foods, and Exports and Imports Fiorela, collectively accounting for 48% of the total.
