In March 2024, Peru experienced a notable 25% increase in its cocoa and cocoa derivatives exports, reaching a total of 6,993 tons. The exports were primarily in the form of grain (67.5%), with significant portions also comprising butter (18.1%), dust (8.9%), and processed cocoa (5.5%). Mexico emerged as the top destination for these exports, making up 21.9% of the total, followed by Belgium, the United States, Canada, and Germany. Key players in this export growth included Cafetalera Amazónica S.A.C., Machu Picchu Foods S.A.C., and Qori Mayo S.A.C., which played a crucial role in enhancing the global presence of Peruvian cocoa.
