In August, Peru experienced a significant decline in ginger exports, with a total of 4,708 tons sent out earning $9.69 million. This represents a 33% decrease in volume and an 18% decrease in value compared to the same month in 2023. Despite the volume drop, the price per kilogram rose by 23% to $2.06. The United States remained the primary market for Peruvian ginger, accounting for 46% of the exports, followed by the Netherlands with 36.8%, and Canada with 4.7%. Each market saw an increase in the average price per kilogram, with the United States experiencing a 26% rise to $2.11, the Netherlands a 29% rise to $2.16, and Canada a 6% rise to $1.85.
