The Peruvian ginger trade has seen a significant increase in exports despite the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on various sectors. FOB exports of national ginger reached US $ 36 million from January to July, an 110.8% increase compared to the last period, positioning Peru as the fourth world exporter. The country has also diversified its ginger export destinations, opening new markets in 14 countries and expanding shipments to 29 destinations. Although agricultural exports saw a decrease, non-traditional agro-exports fell by 1%, with some products like avocados, mangoes, and fresh grapes showing recovery. However, there are challenges for agro-exporters, with Digesa causing delays in providing the necessary sanitary records for each product.
