Since the start of 2024, fresh lemon exports have seen consistent shipments, with monthly exports exceeding US$5 million and reaching 15,540 tons for US$ 15.7 million in the first quarter, marking a 10% increase in volume and 5% increase in value compared to the same period in 2023. Despite this, the average price dropped by 4% to US$ 1.01 per kilogram. The United States, Chile, and the Dominican Republic were the leading recipients of these exports, with the Dominican Republic showing the most growth in 2024. However, the price in the Dominican Republic market experienced an 15% increase, reaching US$ 0.76 per kilo of lemon. Peruvian exporters such as Procesadora Laran S.A.C., Ecosac Agrícola S.A.C., Limones Peruanos S.R.L., and Sociedad Agrícola Rapel S.A.C. played a significant role in these exports.
