Peruvian agro-exporters are strategizing to enter new markets due to increased sea freight costs to China and entry difficulties into Eastern European markets due to the Ukraine war. The Association of Agricultural Producers Associations of Peru (AGAP) is aiding in the adaptation processes to overcome phytosanitary access barriers to countries like Argentina, Iran, Malaysia, Morocco, South Africa, and Taiwan. Our focus is on the export of mangoes and blueberries to these new markets, with mangoes already finding success in the Netherlands, United States, South Korea, Spain, United Kingdom, and Russia, despite challenges in the 2021-2022 mango campaign. Blueberries, on the other hand, are gearing up for entry into South Africa, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Israel, following recent success in Malaysia and India. This expansion is supported by the National Agricultural Health Service of Peru (Senasa) and includes other products such as avocados, grapes, asparagus, citrus, ginger, and pitahaya, with a total of 18 new destinations under consideration.
