Peruvian pitahaya exports have seen a significant surge, with a 570.6% increase from January to August of this year compared to the same period in 2023, totaling US$ 1 million 332 thousand. The European Union, particularly the Netherlands and Spain, are the primary recipients of these exports, which accounted for 93.8% of the total. There is a growing global demand for pitahaya due to its nutritional value and unique taste. Small producers in Amazonas, San Martín, Piura, Huaral, and Chanchamayo are involved in its cultivation. ADEX suggests that producers should be trained in good agricultural practices and promote health protocols to enter the US market. The export volume for the first eight months reached 412 tons, a 343.5% increase from the previous year.
