The Peruvian Foreign Trade Society (ComexPeru) is promoting raspberries as the next big thing in Peruvian agricultural exports, following in the footsteps of blueberries. Despite limited export experience, the U.S., Peru's primary agro-export partner, has shown growing interest, importing raspberries worth $1.36 million in 2019, a 20% increase from the year before. However, Peruvian exporters face competition from Mexico, the dominant supplier of raspberries to the U.S. Other potential export crops include passion fruit, golden berries, dragon fruit, and turmeric, but obtaining U.S. health authorizations is a necessity. Currently, these crops are only exported as samples, with passionfruit being the only one significantly exported to countries like Canada, Spain, The Netherlands, France, and Italy.
