Peruvian tangelo exports achieved positive balance in July despite volume decline

In the midst of a global panorama of low production of certain citrus fruits, the Peruvian tangelo, exported in its Minneola variety, managed to register a positive balance in July of this year. This result was due to the strong increase in the price, despite a slight decrease in the exported volume. Tangelo exports reached $7.11 million in July, marking an increase of 41.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, despite the fact that the volume decreased by 5.1%, closing at 5,413 tons. The good performance was driven by the increase in the average price (+49.1%), which reached $1.31 per kilogram. The production of Peruvian citrus, originating mainly from Junín, Ica and Lima, reached 18 destinations. The United States was the main market (57.98% share), with $4.12 million (2,773 tons at an average price of $1.49 per kilogram).
