The Philippines saw a 3.3% decrease in agricultural production in the first quarter of 2021, a larger drop compared to the same period last year, primarily due to a significant decline in poultry and livestock production caused by African Swine Fever. Despite this, the overall value of agricultural production, excluding fish, increased by 8.2% from the previous year, driven by a rise in crop production. Fisheries production slightly increased by 0.6%. However, the value of livestock and poultry production showed positive growth despite the production declines. The country's total farm output, which contracted by 1.2% in 2020, experienced fluctuation throughout the year with a more pronounced decrease in the fourth quarter.
