The Philippine Exporters Association (Philexport) emphasized China's importance as a market for Philippine food products such as coconut snacks and processed fruits. A delegation of Philippine food businesses, organized by the Department of Trade and Industry's Foreign Trade Bureau, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Guangzhou, and Philexport, visited Guangzhou from June 19 to 23. They engaged with nearly 60 local buyers and key retail customers, resulting in almost $1 million in sales for 10 Philippine food exporters. The delegation also held a business matching event with the Guangdong Imported Food Association and explored cooperation with various Chinese food chains and e-commerce members. From January to May this year, the Philippines exported $3.73 billion to China and imported nearly $13 billion from China.
