In early summer, the season of mulberries, the nostalgic treat that used to stain children's lips purple, has returned.
Mulberries are ripening at Myeongrang Farm in Munae-myeon, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do.
The farm, together with Haenam-gun's local food store, has prepared a mulberry picking experience event, offering visitors the opportunity to pick and taste mulberries directly until mid-this month.
Myeongrang Farm, which has been practicing organic farming for three generations, established its mulberry orchard on land that has only maintained organic cultivation. This year, they introduced a mulberry harvest experience program to promote the value of organic mulberries.
They have applied their own developed organic techniques and use greenhouse cultivation to produce the highest quality mulberries.
Mulberries, the fruit of the mulberry tree, were once widely cultivated to obtain mulberry leaves as silkworm feed and were also synonymous with a deliciously sweet snack fruit.
Recently, it has been gaining attention as a superfood with various health benefits.
Rich in various vitamins, anthocyanins, and dietary fiber, it has antioxidant properties and can be used comprehensively as a food ingredient, beverage, and medicinal herb from its leaves to stems and roots.
Myeongrang Farm representative Park Sung-gwan said on the 1st, "Mulberry trees have been with us for a long time and have been used as the most suitable health food for Koreans," adding, "I hope people can create warm memories while harvesting organic mulberries."
