South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has awarded low-carbon certification to 91 pig and dairy farms for the first time, following 71 Korean beef farms that received the certification last year. These farms have implemented technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 10% per livestock type, with pig farms reducing emissions by an average of 29% and dairy farms by 18% compared to regular farms. The ministry aims to increase the number of low-carbon certified farms to 221 by the end of the year and will support these farms with certification labels, supply contracts, and promotional materials. The ministry also plans to improve livestock manure treatment methods and support costs for carbon reduction.
