During the +Maíz National Congress of the Productive Chain, Hugo Schaffrath discussed the prospects for the growth of the pork business in Paraguay and its impact on corn production. Schaffrath estimated that the annual consumption of corn by pig farming in Paraguay could double in the next 10 years, reaching 477,750 tons per year by 2033. He also highlighted that the fall in pork production in the European Union presents an opportunity for South American production, including in Paraguay. Currently, Paraguay exports pork products to various countries, with Taiwan becoming a significant market in 2023.
