In the first ten months of 2024, Germany experienced a 1.7% increase in pig slaughter compared to the same period in the previous year, totaling 37.14 million pigs. This rise is primarily due to a 2.1% increase in the number of pigs slaughtered, which reached 35.99 million. Additionally, the average slaughter weight of pigs also saw an increase, contributing to a 2.3% rise in the total mass of pigs slaughtered to 3.56 million tons. The stable pig population, as reported in May, showed no continued decline and instead remained stable or slightly increased.
