In northern Samangan province, the pistachio yield has seen a significant increase, reaching 210 tons this year, a threefold increase from the previous year. The quality of the nuts has also improved, now ready for sale at a higher price of 1,300 afghanis per kg, compared to last year's unsold stock that fetched less than 1,000 afghanis per kg. This development is anticipated to greatly boost farmers' income, with projections reaching 276 million afghanis this year, a substantial increase from the 70 million afghanis recorded last year. Samangan province is the country's second largest pistachio producer, contributing to Afghanistan's agricultural exports, which also include pine nuts and various fresh and dry fruits.
