With an investment of S/80,000, the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Piura (DRAP) completed the maintenance work on nine irrigation canals in the district of Huarmaca, Huancabamba province. This intervention will optimize the water conduction, directly benefiting 305 farming families who depend on this activity as their main source of livelihood. The work included cleaning, light vegetation clearing, silt removal, profiling, and the elimination of hydraulic boxes in the most critical sections, along 19.6 kilometers of canal. With these actions, the efficiency of the irrigation system was restored and water supply for 136.5 hectares of crops was ensured, strengthening agricultural productivity and the sustainability of the fields.
