Planas calls the fishing quotas of Norway, the United Kingdom, and the Faroe Islands "unacceptable"

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, demanded this Monday the maintenance of last year's fishing catches and considered "unacceptable" the "unilateral allocations" of mackerel and pollock quotas by Norway, the United Kingdom, and the Faroe Islands. Planas referred to the trilateral agreement sealed between Norway, the United Kingdom, and the Faroe Islands for the period 2024-2026, which includes the fishing of mackerel and allows Norway to fish in British waters. "It is important to work on other alliances to counterbalance this situation. If it is not corrected, the stability of our fishing is at risk," the minister acknowledged in a statement following the meeting of the EU Council of Agriculture and Fisheries Ministers.
