Sri Lanka is a country where agriculture accounts for a significant portion of the national economy, but its high dependence on imported crop seeds has led to ongoing economic burdens and productivity issues. Especially with the recent economic crisis causing severe foreign exchange shortages, lowering seed import dependence and establishing a domestic production system has become an urgent task. In response, the Korea Project on International Agriculture (KOPIA) Sri Lanka Center has been contributing to seed production system innovation, farm income growth, and national food security through customized technical support and farmer-centered demonstration projects since its establishment in 2011.
