According to Thai media, renowned Thai fruit exporter Platinum Fruits (PTF) plans to discuss entering the durian market in North China and Northeast China, preparing to launch a series of ready-to-eat durian glutinous rice products. Meanwhile, the company is preparing to expand its fresh longan export market to Europe, with target customers including the UK and the Netherlands.

Platinum Fruits is one of Thailand's largest exporters of fresh durians, with exported fruits including durians, longans, lychees, and coconuts. The company's market is mainly China, covering Europe, Asia-Pacific, and parts of South Asia.

PTF stated at the 2025 Asia Fruit Logistica (AFL) that it is in talks with partners to develop new markets in several provinces in northern and northeastern China. The Chinese market is expected to have huge growth potential for Thai durians, which brings opportunities for Thai durians. However, the company must always prioritize "quality and safety" to enter these markets. In addition to fresh fruits, PTF launched a series of proprietary ready-to-eat products, "ready-to-eat durian glutinous rice," at the exhibition. The product has been well received, especially by European merchants.

The company's CEO, Natthakrit Iamsakul, explained that currently, the company's longan market is mainly Indonesia and China, but fresh longans are gaining popularity in European markets such as the UK and the Netherlands. In the past, some countries may not have known about fresh longans, but once they taste it, they fall in love with its deliciousness. Moreover, fresh longans have a relatively long shelf life, which helps reduce logistics costs.

This year, imported durians faced issues with excessive levels of heavy metal cadmium and alkaline yellow, but Natthakrit emphasized in June at the AFL Thailand meeting that PTF was not affected by these problems. The company always prioritizes safety and quality, from training farmers at the source, sampling soil and water quality for certified laboratory testing, ensuring no pesticide residues, to checking for residues, pests, and fungi in the factory, all using Global GAP standards to ensure that exported products are free from alkaline yellow and cadmium contamination.

Information from PTF's official website shows that the company's fruits all come from orchards that meet GAP and Global GAP standards, and it has invested in building a cold chain transportation system to control the temperature throughout the process and ensure fruit quality. Currently, PTF's export markets cover multiple countries in Asia and Europe, including China, Indonesia, India, New Zealand, and the UK.
