Poland expects a record year for sugar production

In the third week of August, the first harvests of the earliest sugar beet in Poland have already begun. It is still too early to take stock, as an exceptionally long campaign is expected this year. However, so far, yields are good, with a greater polarisation than last year, according to the National Association of Sugar Beet Growers. This year, Polish production is expected to be between 2.7 and 2.8 Mt of sugar. It will therefore be a record year for sugar production. This year, sugar beet was sown at the end of March. Uniform emergence, good initial vigour and rapid inter-row cover favoured the formation of root mass.
