Poland is approaching the status of a net importer of blueberries, despite exports to Russia

According to EastFruit analysts, Poland, one of the top 10 largest global exporters of fresh blueberries, has been one of the fastest growing markets for this berry from other countries in recent years. In particular, at the end of 2023, Poland entered the top 8 of the world's largest importers of fresh blueberries. And although the volume of blueberry exports so far exceeds the volume of blueberry imports by 15-20%, the gap between imports and exports is narrowing. In 2023, despite favorable market conditions, due to a poor blueberry harvest in Peru and abnormally high prices for berries in the European Union in August-October, Poland was unable to take advantage of this opportunity and reduced export volumes. Thus, it cannot be ruled out that in the coming years Poland will cease to be a net exporter of blueberries, although, undoubtedly, it will continue to be one of the main European exporters of this berry in the summer-autumn period.
