Ukraine imports approximately 100,000 tons of greenhouse vegetables, predominantly tomatoes, annually, making up 60% of the market. Turkey is the primary supplier for these imports, providing 85% of tomatoes and cucumbers, 90% of zucchinis, and two-thirds of peppers. Poland follows as the second largest supplier, contributing to 10% of tomato imports and a third of salad imports. Other EU countries, Georgia, and Uzbekistan are the main suppliers of green house greens, accounting for about 80% of this import. The Ukrainian greenhouse vegetable market has seen a decrease in the volume of local products and an increase in imported products since the start of the war, with imports expected to reach parity with local products by 2022.
