In the first five months of 2024, Polish beef exports have experienced a significant surge due to increased domestic cattle slaughter and the opening of the Turkish market to EU beef. The total beef export volume from the EU to third countries rose by 15% compared to the previous year, with the UK and Turkey being the primary recipients. Poland, with its low domestic beef consumption, exported 4% more beef and veal products in the first four months of 2024, generating 3% more export revenues year-on-year. Additionally, non-EU markets like Turkey, UK, and Israel have seen a notable increase in imports of Polish beef, attributed to higher deliveries to Turkey. Although beef imports to Poland have also grown slightly, the purchase prices of slaughter cattle in both the EU and Poland have remained lower than the previous year.
