From today, Polish farmers in over 40 cities have announced a nationwide protest, which will last until December 14. The organizers of the protest expect that the action will spread across the entire country, reports Tygodnik Rolniczy. The protest is organized by the Movement "National Farmers' Protest," Agricultural Circles, the "Solidarity" Agricultural Union, and the West Pomeranian Chamber of Agriculture. The basis for the protests is the "terrible economic situation in agriculture": wheat is priced at 650–700 zlotys per ton, corn at around 400 zlotys. For many farms, this is below the cost of production. Additionally, sales are difficult because buyers are limiting their purchases.
