Farmers in Duhok, Iraq, have started harvesting pomegranates, with the crop covering over 25,000 acres across the Kurdistan Regional Government. The region's pomegranates, famous for their unique flavor, are mainly grown in Halabja, with varieties such as Shaklava and Zaho. These pomegranates are highly valued in the domestic market, with prices reaching 600-700 Iraqi dinars per kilo. The KRG Ministry of Agriculture imposes a ban on pomegranate imports from August to December to protect local production.
