Brazilian pork and chicken meat exports hit record highs in 2020, with pork exports increasing by 36% to a total of 1.02 million tonnes and chicken meat exports rising by 5.8% to 1.635 million tonnes. The Asian market accounted for 80% of pork exports, with China being the main importer, and the Asian market, including China, Singapore, Vietnam, and Japan, accounted for 63% of chicken meat exports. Other significant markets included Africa, the European Union, Russia, the Middle East, and America. The increase in exports is attributed to the African Swine Fever outbreak in Asia. Despite a decrease in Middle East imports, overall, the export trends are expected to continue in 2021.
