Ports located on the Mediterranean: 13% increase in fishing landings at the end of February in Morocco

Landings of coastal and artisanal fishing at ports located on the Mediterranean reached 3,216 tonnes (T) at the end of last February, up 13% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the National Office Fisheries (ONP). In value, these landings are up 37% to approximately 158.79 million dirhams (MDH) at the end of February 2024, compared to the same period a year earlier (115.57 MDH), specified the ONP in its latest report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco. By species, the quantities of pelagic fish landed in these ports, located on the coast from Tangier to Saidia, fell by 24% during the first two months of 2024 to 777 T, for an estimated value of more than 10.77 MDH (-18%), compared to approximately 13.21 MDH/1,020 tonnes at the end of February 2023.
