Argentina: Positive cases of avian influenza in backyard and wild birds in Buenos Aires and Córdoba

Buenos Aires - The National Agrifood Health and Quality Service (Senasa) confirmed new cases of avian influenza (AI) H5, in backyard birds (turkey and chicken) and wild birds (duck and redfish) located in La Segovia lagoon, Puán, province of Buenos Aires, and in Del Campillo, province of Córdoba. The detections were confirmed today by the Senasa National Laboratory, after analyzing the samples sent by the Córdoba and Buenos Aires Sur regional centers of the health agency, whose agents attended to take them - with due precautions - from the animals notified in the areas located in their jurisdictions. Today, Senasa had also confirmed the occurrence of a case in a backyard bird, in Zapala, Neuquén province. In this way, with more than 100 notifications received by Senasa, there are 11 confirmed cases in wild and backyard birds to date (6 in Córdoba, 1 Buenos Aires; 1 in Jujuy; 1 in Neuquén; 1 in Salta and 1 in Santa Fe).
