Netherlands: Potato exports continue well in October

A large part of the consumption and industrial potatoes are sold in the neighboring countries Belgium, Germany and France. And despite the larger harvests in these countries, exports to these countries are continuing quite well. The greatly expanded potato processing in Belgium in particular creates a high demand for potatoes. Last month, almost 34,000 tons went to our southern neighbors. Sales to Belgium were therefore approximately 3,300 tonnes larger than in the same month last year. A year ago, the Belgians themselves were struggling with a severely disappointing potato harvest. Total exports to Belgium this season already amount to 156,605 tons. That is more than 33,000 tons more than in the same period last year.
