Potato market maintains upward trend in the Netherlands

The quotation for potatoes suitable for French fries for large-scale processing in Europe has been increased by 1.50 euros at the top and now amounts to an average of 20.75 euros per 100 kilos. That is already 4.50 euros more than three weeks ago. The quotes at PotatoNL are increasingly making a distinction between potatoes delivered from the field, at the lower end, and potatoes delivered dry from the shed, at the upper end of the pricing. The quotation range for chip potatoes in category I now ranges from 17.50 to 24 euros per 100 kilos. Stock broker De Vries & Westermann reports that the processing industry is showing interest in custodial parties, but that the willingness of long-term custodians to sell is not yet very great. These lots are not expected to be offered until New Year's Eve.
