In 2024, as in previous years, the households of farmers were particularly exposed to extreme poverty, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). In the document titled "Poverty in Poland in 2023 and 2024," GUS recalls that the basis for determining the poverty threshold is the minimum subsistence level estimated by the Institute of Labor and Social Affairs (IPiSS) and relating to household expenditure. The minimum subsistence category indicates a very low level of needs satisfaction. Consumption below this level makes survival difficult and poses a threat to the psychophysical development of a human being. Applying the threshold for relative poverty at the level of 50 percent of the amount that households in Poland spend on average per month allows for the identification of those households and individuals whose consumption level deviates significantly from the average.
