A new cereal crop, Tritordeum, has been developed in Greece through a collaboration between Alfa Seeds and innovative producers, by crossing durum wheat and wild barley. This crop has been found to thrive in various soil conditions and offers potential revenue benefits for farmers. It is more resistant to dry heat and has a higher nitrogen use efficiency than other cereals. The crop also has a good baking ability and is suitable for pastries and breakfast cereals. From the 2022-2023 growing season, Tritordeum will attract a special premium for innovative crops, further reducing the cost of cultivation. Alfa Seeds can provide specific seed quantities for the new season and will purchase the production at the end of the season.
