Peru emerged as the leading global supplier of blueberries in 2021, accounting for 25.1% of the total trade, according to the Association of Exporters (ADEX). The United States was the primary destination, making blueberries the second most exported non-traditional agricultural product in Peru, following fresh grapes. The demand for blueberries, known for their health benefits, is expected to rise, but challenges such as oversupply and organoleptic characteristics need to be addressed. ADEX also reported a 123.4% growth in blueberry exports from January to July 2022, generating $209,479,000 from 25 markets, with the United States accounting for 52.8% of the shipments.
