The president of the Egyptian Businessmen Association, Ali Issa, is optimistic about the prospects for Egyptian exports in the upcoming winter season, expecting citrus fruit exports to match or exceed last year's figures, despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the pandemic has negatively impacted the export of potatoes, due to the closure of tourism and restaurants, the suspension of student studies, and the suspension of late dues to exporters by the Ministry of Finance, which is causing liquidity problems for exporters and potentially driving them away from the market. Samir Al-Najjar, a board member of the association, has warned of significant losses for exporters and farmers, which could result in Egypt's withdrawal from the potato export market next year.
