The South Korean government has extended the tariff exemption period for 10 imported fruits until September 30, in response to food price inflation. The tariff exemption will apply to bananas, pineapples, mangoes, grapefruits, kiwis, avocados, mangosteens, cherries, durians, and citrus fruits. This could result in a record high volume of fruit imports in 2024. However, there are concerns about potential oversupply, especially with the anticipated arrival of large quantities of Australian oranges from June 25.
