Garlic prices in Ukraine have experienced a significant increase this year, reaching between 140-160 UAH/kg, essentially doubling from the previous year. This price hike is attributed to a combination of factors, including a decrease in the import of garlic from China and domestic shortages. The high prices are also influenced by the unchanged cost of planting garlic and the limited supply of Ukrainian garlic due to challenges in cultivation and storage. Despite these challenges, a significant decrease in garlic prices is not anticipated before the New Year holidays. The current situation suggests that garlic prices may stabilize in the winter season, although fluctuations are possible depending on the yield and import volumes.
