Garlic prices in Ukraine have doubled this year, reaching UAH 140-160/kg, while planting costs remain the same as last year. The increase in prices is attributed to China reducing its sown areas to increase price, following a collapse in 2015. The result has been a decrease in the quality and volume of the garlic harvest, with Ukraine collecting no more than 3,000 tons. This is due to a lack of funding for Ukrainian farmers, conservative thinking, and a lack of successful examples in the north during the south's occupation.
