Prices for garlic in Ukraine are twice as high as last year

This year, prices for garlic in Ukraine have almost doubled, while the cost of planting remained at the same level as last year. This was reported by Serhiy Shysh, director of the Agroinnovation company, AgroTimes reports. "If a year ago the wholesale price of garlic at the start of harvesting in July was UAH 83-86/kg, this year it reached UAH 140-160/kg. At the same time, the seeds for sowing remained at the last year's price, that is, the most favorable conditions for the producer were created," the company's director noted. He explained that the rise in prices is not at all situational and happened because China began to reduce its sown areas in order to raise the price, because in 2015 they collapsed it to a minimum.
