The head of Mexico's National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission, Octavio Almada Palafox, has updated the Senate of the Republic's Commission of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development on the progress towards reininstating Mexico's suspended shrimp certification from the United States. The suspension was due to the lack of required measures, but efforts are being made to meet these conditions. The commission is also focusing on promoting more productive and sustainable fishing and aquaculture practices. The National Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture is involved in research to optimize marine resources and increase production. The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Program 2020-2024 is being developed in alignment with other development plans to benefit producers.
