Ukraine: Processors are ready to buy amaranth seeds, which are rapidly increasing in price

Amaranth processors in the 2024 season will raise the purchase prices for marketable seeds to UAH 30,000/t including VAT, Oleksandr Duda, head of the NGO "Amaranth and Amaranth Products Producers' Association" noted. The expert added that organic amaranth can be sold at a price of UAH 50,000/t including VAT. During 2020-2023, farmers stably sold amaranth seeds at UAH 25,000/t, which made it possible to maintain sales prices for domestic processing enterprises and provide them with raw materials in full. The average yield of amaranth seeds of the Kharkivskyi-1, Lyera varieties in the natural agrobackground is 12 c/ha, with foliar feeding and application of 30-50 kg d.r. N, P — up to 26 c/ha.
