Peru: Anchovy fishing reaches 65.56% of the quota in the second season of 2024

The industrial fishing fleet boosts the economy and reinforces compliance with sustainability standards in the main ports of Peru. The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) reported that the accumulated landings of anchovy in the north-central area of the country reached 1,645,482 tons, which represents 65.56% of the quota assigned for the second fishing season 2024. This figure, recorded from November 1 to December 16, underlines the continuous effort of the industrial fleet in the capture and processing of this strategic resource, consolidating the sector as a key driver for national economic development. A total of 300 vessels currently operate in the designated areas, distributed in the regions of Piura, La Libertad, Áncash, Lima and Ica. These operations are concentrated in strategic ports such as Chimbote, Malabrigo, Coishco, Callao, Tambo de Mora, Supe and Chancay, which are neuralgic points for fishing activity.
