Peru: Produce establishes hake ban in the north of the country for a period of 30 days

08/24/2022 The Ministry of Production (Produce) established the reproductive ban on the hake resource (Merluccius gayi peruanus) in the maritime area between the northern limit of the Peruvian maritime domain and 04° 00'S, with extraction prohibited of the aforementioned resource for a period of 30 days, starting tomorrow, August 25. According to Ministerial Resolution No. 00279-2022-Produce, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano, the rule does not apply to artisanal fishing vessels. The Institute of the Sea of Peru (Imarpe) carries out the monitoring and follow-up of the reproductive process of the hake resource, and must promptly inform and recommend to the Ministry of Production the necessary measures to safeguard the sustainability of said resource.
