Narsingdi district in Bangladesh is set to produce a record 150,000 tonnes of summer vegetables this season due to favourable climate conditions and increased cultivation area. The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has encouraged farmers to grow toxin-free vegetables and provided training on pest management and organic farming. The district, which supplies a significant portion of its production to the capital and other areas, is becoming known as a vegetable surplus region, with poor farmers achieving economic self-sufficiency through vegetable farming.
