In May 2024, Chile's egg production for consumption increased by 4.1% year-on-year to 351,742,724 units, driven by a 5.3% rise in white egg production. The number of laying hens grew by 3.0% to 14,700,704 birds. Extra-large white eggs saw an 11.9% increase, while large white eggs grew by 1.6%. Extra-large colored eggs rose by 4.7%, but large colored eggs decreased by 2.4%. The Metropolitan Region led national production with a 7.2% increase, followed by the Valparaíso and Ñuble Regions.
