The Thai Animal Feed Manufacturers Association has appealed to the Ministry of Finance for a reduction in the import tax on 29 animal feed raw materials, due to the high reliance on foreign imports which results in higher production costs. The association fears that the proposed tax cut could impact the price of paddy farmers and pressurize domestic farmers by reducing demand for their produce. Meanwhile, there are concerns about the impact of drought and high shipping costs on rice exports, with the Thai Rice Mill Association urging the government for financial support. The Agronomy Trade Association has opposed the proposed 0% tax cut on 29 animal feed ingredients, citing potential negative effects on farmers.
