The European Commission has granted protected designations of origin to "Bulgarian yogurt" and "Bulgarian white brine cheese", ensuring the protection of the entire production chain, including the raw materials and method of production up to the animal feed. The obligation for these products to be made from 100% Bulgarian raw materials, combined with the increasing global demand, is expected to stimulate business and related sectors of the economy. The protection is necessary to prevent unfair competition from other countries that produce similar products without complying with the production criteria and violating the uniqueness of the Bulgarian products.
