ASF in Italy: Situation of pork exports to certain third countries

The Italian Ministry of Health issued a statement to the veterinary services and the meat sector with clarification on exports of Italian pork and pork products to third countries due to the current situation of African Swine Fever (ASF) in northern Italy. In Canada, regionalization is recognized by EU legislation under the existing CETA agreement. Due to the PSA, the CFIA has updated the import conditions for the Autonomous Regions and Provinces of Trento and Bolzano for fresh/frozen pork as well as cured pork products, and maintains the current sanitary conditions for cooked, sterilized and processed from pork. Consignments of fresh/frozen pork, as well as cured pork products with a certification date after 8 January, must be accompanied by a complementary health certificate. The health authorities of Cuba confirmed the temporary ban on imports of pork and pork products from Italy as a regionalization for ASF is not recognized.
