Sunseed purchase prices in Ukraine are experiencing a significant increase due to a decreased harvest and a lack of offers from farmers. This trend is also impacting the prices of sunflower oil and meal, though not as severely. As of October 4, 8 million tonnes of sunflower have been harvested from 3.9 million hectares, marking 78% of the expected area. The total harvest is projected to reach 11 million tonnes, which is lower than forecasted. Some processors have raised the purchase price of sunseed with an oil content of 50% to 25,000 UAH/t in response to fulfilling contracts for sunseed oil supply. Demand prices for sunflower oil and meal in Ukrainian ports have also risen. The potential decrease in sunflower production in Turkey due to very dry weather may lead to an increase in imports of sunflower from Ukraine.
