Increasing exports of sunflower oil from the Black Sea ports have caused purchase prices for sunflower in Ukraine to rise, but competition from Russian oil in markets like China and India has limited the demand on the world market. While demand prices for sunflower have increased in Ukraine, producers are holding back sales in anticipation of further price increases. Export demand for Ukrainian sunflower remains low due to a ban on supplies to neighboring EU countries, and prices for sunflower oil have even decreased due to increased supply and lower prices for soybean oil, as well as increased exports of Russian oil to India and China.
